What, Problems of Ego?

Disagreements between humans are always an issue of ego and world bound emotions.  One or both people become offended, frames of worldly reference become distorted, reactions occur, and arguments follow.

It demands both an acuity of spirit and high-level emotional intelligence to wisely manage human relationships.  A person with emotional intelligence yet lacking spiritual grounding can find themselves in difficult arguments or disagreements.  If a human is trained to merely reason through human relations, they will at times lack the necessary intuition that spirit lends for levity.

The spirit has no sense of division.  A spiritually tuned person will always seek clarity, resolution, and truth before placing blame if not aligned with someone.  The spiritualist is rightly balanced, intuitively expressing tolerance, unity and openness.  When placed in a corner, the non-spiritualized ego always falls prey to closing off and manipulating the situation to sit within their frame of reference.

The next time you find yourself in an argument, check your ego.  If you emotionally react your ego has been poked.  When reviewing past disagreements as part of your practice, ask yourself what your specific role was in the situation.  Then look at the result.

Did you manipulate the outcome in ego, or did you seek resolution in spirit?
